Chris Wienk with Wanda Fischer of WAMC
WEXT

One of my favorite DJ's is Wanda Fischer. She has this way on the radio that makes you feel like you've been friends forever. She is a true treasure. So, when I heard that Wanda was about to celebrate her 35th year as our Saturday night companion on WAMC's Hudson River Sampler, I thought I had to get her over to talk about some of those memories and have her play some of her favorite songs.

Happy 35th anniversary, Wanda!

Mad Max

July 15th
Mass MoCA

The 1979 cult classic, Mad Max, shaped the way we think about our dystopian future, in which desolate, post-apocalyptic landscapes are the backdrop for a wild ride of feuds and vengeance. Join our friends at Mass MoCA for an outdoor screening, with an original re-score performed live by the hot New York City ensemble Morricone Youth — makes for a great summer night.

For details, visit the Mass MoCA website.

1967 is coming! When you turn on your radio on Friday, June 9th, don't be alarmed. You will indeed have stepped into a psychedelic time machine.

What was radio like in 1967? There weren't many, but the cool progressive stations were just getting started, Monterey International Pop took place that June, and it launched a summer of migration - the Summer of Love. Come along as we relive those heady months of 50 years ago.

KTG and Joseph Thompson
WEXT

Director of Mass MoCA, Joseph Thompson, stopped by the station to talk with KTG about the museum's newly renovated wing. With the expansion, Mass MoCA will have more gallery space than any other contemporary art museum in the country. The new space with feature installations from Jenny Holzer, Robert Rauschenberg, Louise Bourgeious, James Turrell, Laurie Anderson and Gunnar Schonbeck. The addition will add even more to the already culturally rich region, dubbing the area as "art country."

No Depression

Everybody knows I'm a huge Neil Young fan.  Seems like forever.  I was in middle school in Syracuse when I discovered his music.  I used to scan radio stations by turning the knob that moved the needle up and down.  Remember those?  I was always in search for music that was different and unique.  I loved the hip hop and the British punk and the new wave that was exploding.  But it was during one of those late night expeditions with my radio when I discovered Neil.  Wow!  I was hooked.  His voice is at times soft and sincere.  Other times, brash and vitriol
