Support the Music - Ten Years of Diversity

Mar 18, 2017

Bob Dylan has won many awards throughout his career including the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature, twelve Grammy Awards, one Academy Award and one Golden Globe Award. Much of his most-celebrated work dates from the 1960s, when his songs chronicled social unrest. As we celebrate the songs of Bob Dylan this week, we’re counting on hearing from you with your financial support. Listener support has made it possible for us to share Breakfast with the Beatles, Dylan at Dusk, Hello Pretty City and other unique musical experiences.  We are looking to accomplish even more as we celebrate our 10th anniversary of leaving regular radio behind this summer.  The Spring Fundraising Campaign is the first fundraising effort of our 10th anniversary year here at Exit 97.7. As we play sets of music by Bob Dylan, we look forward to hearing from you. Your gift right now can be especially meaningful – especially if you choose to become a sustaining contributor by making your recurring monthly contribution to support WEXT. Every month, you make an automatic contribution from your bank account or credit card that brings the programming you enjoy to life. We have a goal to hear from at least 40 new sustainers and 200 total contributors before we get to Friday, March 24. You can sign up online. or call 1-800-272-6492.  Each hour, we’ll celebrate with special sets of Bob Dylan’s music.  We will play the full “Blonde On Blonde” album twice (3/20 at 12n and 3/23 at 6p), and we’ll play back The Bob Dylan 100 (3/24, starting at 8a).

DRAWING PRIZE:  Everyone who calls, or enters online will be entered into our John Prine prize package that includes his new lyrics book, “Beyond Words,” a pair of tickets to his July 28th show at The Palace Theatre, and his full Oh Boy! Records catalog of CDs. This is valued at $600.  (No pledge is required to enter. No staff member, or their family members may enter to win. More rules.) While a pledge is not required, we do hope you dig the music mix enough to give a little something to keep WEXT in business.
