Dave Michaels

Morning DJ / Senior Radio Producer

Monday - Friday 5am - 10am

From birth, Dave was nursed on rock 'n' roll, country and Americana music.  In fact, his dad captured him on reel-to-reel singing from his crib to Roger Miller's "King of The Road"; a recording Dave has never let out of his possession!  Discovery of his parent's General Electric hi-fi ignited his passion for radio, and after getting a gig at a college radio station, he was hooked!  28 years later, we can see his instincts were spot on!

From on air to production director, Dave's radio career has taken him from Glens Falls to Albany, where he has hosted the morning show on Exit 97.7 WEXT since it's inception in 2007.

Tune in for Stax at Sunrise at 6:30, Breakfast with The Beatles at 7:20 and Dawn of The Dead at 8:30.

No Depression

Everybody knows I'm a huge Neil Young fan.  Seems like forever.  I was in middle school in Syracuse when I discovered his music.  I used to scan radio stations by turning the knob that moved the needle up and down.  Remember those?  I was always in search for music that was different and unique.  I loved the hip hop and the British punk and the new wave that was exploding.  But it was during one of those late night expeditions with my radio when I discovered Neil.  Wow!  I was hooked.  His voice is at times soft and sincere.  Other times, brash and vitriol

This Saturday, November 12, Neil Percival Young turns 71 years old.

The King of Mountain Funk.  The Godfather of Grunge.  Whatever you call him, one thing is for certain, Neil Young is undoubtedly one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time.

I've been a devout fan through thick and thin; through all his ever changing musical tastes and styles.  He's been one of my favorites since I was able to reach the volume knob on the radio to turn up on one of his songs.

“I took it a stage further; a really sort of heavy, authentic blues band and like everything else, you add to what went before.   I always looked to The Stones, people like that, they came before me and of course they were the beginnings of that whole thing in England.  I certainly kicked that ball along.”
